Parents often ask me how they can assist children to develop into well-balanced persons. With all the technology that is available nowadays, with all the hypes and busts, it is hard to choose what is right for your child. What software to choose, what video programs to show, what early development class to sign-up for.
My answer: None.
Between the age of 0 and 7 children should be left alone. But before any of you start stressing out and develop inferiority complex, while your neighbor’s child shows her superior abilities by counting to 100 by the age of 3, keep in mind: modern psychology agrees with ancient Ayurveda – children who are forced to developed too fast usually experience many emotional imbalances later in life. Reiki therapy can help.
First, let us explore ayurvedic child’s spiritual and mental development based on the Chakra System.
The time from birth to the age of 1:
is the development of the Base chakra (trust, structure, security and connection to the family and community). Holding your child, singing lullabies, talking to your child, telling bedtime stories, making your child safe and snug is the most important job you can do. It is tiring. But if you want to be friends by the time they hit puberty, you have to start now. And before you ask: don’t use TV as a babysitter. Structured, well planned day is essential. No loud noises or crowds. Food, sleep, and play must be always at the same time.
Children who did not received enough parental attention during this period experience high levels of anxiety and stress. Reiki sessions can restore the balance by addressing loneliness and self-worth.
is the development of the Second chakra. Creativity is the most important quality your child develops during this time. And again, before you ask: no this is not the time to introduce them to TV, computer, and your smart device. They must discover, make mistakes, learn, and find the proper way on their own, and by observing you. Play, be goofy, and laugh together.
The age between 1 and 2:
Children who were not let to explore on their own are losing the sense of control over their destiny and ability thinking outside of the box. Regular Reiki sessions can help to remove blockages associated with Sacral Chakra restoring the sense of endless possibilities and “can-do” attitude.
The age between 2 and 3:
is the age of the Power chakra, the age of the will and ambitions (talking about terrible angry twos). This is the best time to start letting your child to help with the house chores. Make it fun to participate in preparation of the family dinner or sweeping the floor and putting all the toys away. Be always clear of what is acceptable and not acceptable behavior.
Children who grow up in chaotic environment and who were not trained how to control, and process anger and frustration will have hard time getting plans together and find it difficult achieving goals later in life. Reiki therapy can help by training the mind to process emotions of anger and rage in a positive compassionate way.
is the time ruled by the Heart chakra, the chakra of compassion. The time when your child discovers that their actions effect people and can make them laugh or cry. This is the time when they attentively listen to your opinion: Is it good, is it bad? Take them to the short performances or show them short cartoons (10 – 15 minutes), always watch with them, express your opinion, explain why it is right or wrong.
The time between 3 and 4:
Children raised in uncaring environment where parents or guardian do not attend to their emotional needs grow having problems finding a suitable partner and building meaningful relationships with people. Reiki therapy helps process grief to address Heart Chakra imbalance.
The age between 4 and 5:
is the age of the Throat Chakra. And it is all about self-expression. It shapes on a solid foundation build during earlier years: Trust, Creativity, Will and Consideration. Without the Trust (Base Chakra Stage) there is no openness. Without the Creativity (Second Chakra Stage) there is no ingenuity. Without the Will Power (Power Chakra Stage) there is no execution plan. Without the Consideration (Heart Chakra Stage) there is no harmony. Listen and be amused by their stories, sign them up for the art class, let them pick their own outfit or decorate their bedroom. Let them have fun, don’t push.
Children who were not permitted to express themselves freely have hard time funding their voice and their place in life. They experience constant obstacles achieving their goals. Reiki therapy helps to express ambitions and desires free of fear to be misunderstood, creating positive environment, and removing unnecessary obstacles.
is the age of the Third Eye chakra, the chakra of intuition and logic. The age when we are ready to ask difficult questions and listen to difficult answers. What is death? Am I going to die? What about my parents? The age when the childhood is almost over. The age when the child starts to understand the cause and effect of events and actions. The worst answer you can give to their “Why?” is “Because I said so”. Explain yourself, explain your decisions. It does not matter how many times you repeat the same answer.
The age between 5 and 7:
Children who were not taught to accept the world as it is truly are, experience hard times in life by not accepting the reality. There plans are fantasies. These people often experience shock as their dreams come crashing down. Reiki sessions help to develop acceptance and train mind to be more observant.
Approximately at the age of 7 your child enters the Crown Chakra development stage.
The development of spirituality and the gathering of knowledge. The endless play days are over. They are ready to go to school and learn. The scary part? Your job is done. They are a little people now. This is the time for them to find their own ways. The best part? The first part of the journey is over, from here you walk together as friends for life. Enjoy.
The Crown Chakra development never ends. In life your children will face obstacles, heartaches, and grief. Reiki therapy can help by training their minds to process emotions in a compassionate way helping them mature and grow on their life journey.
